I found the information useful. I have just completed my BScN after graduating with a Nursing Diploma several years ago. I am now exploring my post graudate options and FB as somehow picked up on this. I have decided to take a less traditional route and am looking at Public health, Epidemiology or Global health as options rather th********ScN. I have actually had international distance programs in some of these specialties advertised to me on my FB profile - interesting but like I said, also a little bit creepy that my interests could be so specifically targeted in this way.

Facebook's targeted ads have provided me with many opportunities to explore education opportunities. I am amazed and a little uneasy with FBs precise targeting of my particular educational interests. <br>As a nurse concerned with social justice issues, I have also found sites like facebook and twitter as well as local blogs and forums to be of great value in building working relationships with other nurses, local activist and activist groups. My on-line networks allow me connect with what is going on in my community, my country and the world as I receive and share news pieces, reports and research. I am guilty of an occasional indulgent wasteful facebook hour ( not at work of course but definitely at home) but for the most part, I use social networking to learn, share and connect. I will return to any site that allows me to do these these things, particularly if these sites also give me an opportunity to open up a dialogue on proffesional or community issues.

Dr Mailette has some wonderful ideas. I am so impressed that someone is focussing on dialogue and collaboration through social media in the workplace. I can't agree more about understanding the different purposes of the internet etc. Good luck with everything.

Hi I enjoyed your video, I am a Nurse and Musician trying to find teachers, Nurses and other health care professional that may have use of my childrens health songs. I am also trying to promote nursing to the small children I associate with. I do use FaceBook, although I am still learning. I think I get more interaction on twitter at this point. My reason is to network. I know I have a lot to learn.
