Nursing Ideas is a website devoted to inspring nurses and nursing students, and may include discussion around relevant to healthcare professionals and include medical topics. Every effort is made to ensure content is reliable and up to date, that being said the author(s) are not liable for any damages due to the use of information provided on Nursing Ideas. To ensure that Nursing Ideas produces quality and reliable content Nursing Ideas abides by the principles of the HONcode.
1. Authoritative - Nursing Ideas was started in 2008 by Robert Fraser a Registered Nurse in the province of Ontario (Canada), while completing his BScN at Ryerson University (finished in 2009). He is currently working on his Masters of Nursing at the University of Toronto. Interviewees and contributors may consist of a range of healthcare professionals, all of which are mentioned and their credentials are given. As regulated healthcare professionals, abiding by the authority of our regulatory bodies is of highest importance. If and when there are policies by the college, provincial or federal policies on appropriate use of social media they will be followed.
2. Complementary - The information provided on this site is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between a patient/site visitor and his/her existing healthcare provider. For healthcare providers information found on this website is not meant to provide fully researched opinions on topics, but rather to support and inspire further learning and research among healthcare professionals.
3. Privacy - Nursing Ideas fully respects individuals rights to privacy, users should be aware that Google Analytics is used to track site usage, however IP addresses are not stored or linked to any information (comments, contact form, etc) that maybe submitted. The author of this website only collects and stores name and contact information provide by individuals using the contact page.
4. Attribution - Along with details of guest contributors and interviewees the author(s) of any post or pages on this website provides references or hyperlinks to original sources, whenever possible.
5. Justifiability - Any claims relating to the benefits/performance of a specific treatment, commercial product or service will be supported by appropriate, balanced evidence in the manner outlined above in Principle 4.
6. Transparency - The designers of this Web site will seek to provide information in the clearest possible manner and provide contact addresses for visitors that seek further information or support. The Webmaster will display his/her E-mail address clearly throughout the Web site.
7. Disclosures - Currently all costs associated with hosting, developing and production of Nursing Ideas has been paid for by the author. No money has been accepted for the purpose of advertisement or promotion of a product. Any products given to the author for a reduced cost, free or when being paid will be disclosed in the article that mentions the received benefit or good.
The author of Nursing Ideas was a student of Ryerson University and University of Toronto, he has worked with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (unpaid and paid) and the Canadian Nurses Federation of Canada (paid) on projects related to the use of social media and technology. He has given presentations at the Nursing Leadership Network of Ontario & Canadian Nurses Association conferences as well as for the board of the Ontario Nurses Association. He has published a book with Sigma Theta Tau on Social Media
